Approved hours reappear in Approve Hours after resaving an absence record

Learn why approved hours can reappear in Approve Hours after you resave an absence record.

Written by James Pardy

After hours have been approved and sent to payroll, resaving an absence record can cause those hours to reappear in the Approve Hours screen. This can happen even if you don't change the absence dates.

Why this happens

This is expected system behaviour. When you reopen an absence record and save it again, for example to upload a document, the system treats the save as a change to historical data. This triggers a recalculation of the employee's hours. Any affected hours can then return to the Approve Hours screen, even if they were approved previously.

The approval process reflects the latest attendance and absence information. Resaving an absence record can therefore recalculate the associated hours and send them back for review, whether or not the absence dates changed.

⚠️Important: This behaviour is separate from hours reappearing after actioning a Missed Clock notification, which is covered in a different article. Resaving any absence record, not only acting on a Missed Clock notification, can trigger this recalculation.
