Understand the SmartRoster dashboard

An explanation of the SmartRoster dashboard, including the KPI tiles, what each metric measures, how to use the coverage drill-down, and how to read the Roster Confidence Score.

Written by James Pardy

The SmartRoster dashboard is the central view for reviewing the quality of a generated roster. It displays KPI tiles grouped by category and the Roster Confidence Score. Each tile shows whether the roster meets the configured threshold for that KPI.

KPI tiles

KPI tiles are grouped into four categories: Financial Metrics, Compliance, Staffing and Coverage, and Fairness. Each tile displays the current score for that KPI and uses Red, Amber, or Green colouring based on the thresholds configured in Summary Configuration.

Category

KPIs included

Financial Metrics

Roster cost vs budget, overtime cost, cost per hour.

Compliance

Working Time Directive (WTD) breaches, rest period compliance, maximum weekly hours.

Staffing and Coverage

Percentage of demand met, understaffed periods, overstaffed periods.

Fairness

Distribution of desirable and undesirable shifts across the team.

Coverage drill-down

Select the Staffing and Coverage tile to open the coverage drill-down panel. This panel displays coverage data at the time-slot level, showing where understaffing or overstaffing occurs during the roster period.

  • Green cells indicate periods where staffing meets or exceeds demand.

  • Amber cells indicate periods where staffing is slightly below demand.

  • Red cells indicate periods where staffing significantly falls short of demand.

Roster Confidence Score

The Roster Confidence Score is displayed as a large percentage tile on the dashboard. It represents the weighted composite of all KPI category scores. Select the tile to open the drill-down panel, which shows the individual category scores and their contribution to the overall score.

📌Note: A high Roster Confidence Score indicates the roster performs well across all weighted categories. A low score does not prevent the roster from being published — it is an indicator for the manager to review the Roster agent's recommendations before publishing.
