Learn how to configure shift types in Access WFM, including setting up working patterns, pay codes, and absence premiums.
Key Features of Shift Types
Cycle Shift
The Cycle Shift option ensures that the schedule repeats on the same weekly cycle. Enable this feature if you want the same work pattern to recur every week. This is particularly useful for consistent scheduling needs.
Sequence Number 1
The Sequence Number 1 represents the weekly schedule, typically from Sunday to Saturday. When setting up a new shift type, you can add entries for each day’s work pattern within this sequence. If the Cycle Shift option is enabled, this sequence will automatically repeat each week.
From the WFM Admin Dashboard select WFM Configuration.
Search for and click the Shift Type tile.
Click Add.
Alternatively, we recommend copying an existing shift type, where a similar one exists, by clicking Copy from its three dot menu.
Enter a unique code, name and short name for your shift type.
Enable the Cycle Shift toggle if the shift is cycle based or disable if Period based.
Cycle shifts are considered best practice as they reduce future shift maintenance.
Enable the Active toggle.
Click OK.
You can now setup the shifts and shift patterns using the Shift Patterns tab.
Click Add
Using the drop-down menu, select the relevant hours for each day.
Repeat for as many shifts as required
Click Save
Use the General Parameters tab to configure further information on your shift type. For example:

Click Save if you make any changes
Use the Absence Premium tab to set an absence premium and associate a pay code with it.
