Assign shifts to employees without fixed schedules in Workforce Management

You can manage flexible employee scheduling in PeopleXD's Workforce Management module using REST shifts, manual overrides, and Flexi Work Patterns.

Written by James Pardy

You can manage shifts for employees who do not have a fixed schedule in PeopleXD's Workforce Management module. Use REST shifts as a default placeholder, manually override shifts for specific working days, or configure Flexi Work Patterns for more advanced scheduling needs.

REST shifts as a default for flexible employees

For employees who do not have a fixed shift pattern, assign a REST shift type as their default. This acts as a placeholder, ensuring every employee has a shift type assigned at all times. You can then manually adjust their schedule as needed.

Override shifts for specific working days

To roster an employee on specific working days, update the default REST shift for those days directly in the Roster screen or Weekly Work Schedule.

  1. Open the Roster screen, or go to Timesheet Input and select Weekly Work Schedule.

  2. Select the employee whose shift you want to update.

  3. Change the default REST shift to the required working pattern for the days the employee needs to work.

  4. Click Save.

šŸ“ŒNote: This approach lets you customise individual days while keeping REST as the standing default for all other days.

Flexi Work Patterns for advanced flexibility

For employees who can work any five days out of seven without a fixed structure, PeopleXD supports Flexi Work Patterns. This feature gives you advanced control over complex scheduling arrangements.

šŸ“ŒNote: Flexi Work Pattern configuration requires additional setup. Contact your system administrator or refer to the relevant PeopleXD configuration guides for guidance.
