When booking annual leave in PeopleXD Workforce Management, you may see a "rest day" error. This happens when the employee is not scheduled to work on the selected date in Workforce Management.
Since annual leave can only be applied to scheduled working days, the system blocks the request if the date is marked as a rest day. Updating the employee’s roster for that date will resolve the issue.
Why the 'rest day' error occurs
The error appears when the selected leave date does not contain a working shift in the employee’s roster.
This usually happens because:
The employee is not scheduled to work on that date
The working pattern or shift is missing
The wrong contract or schedule is being used
The roster has not been updated in Workforce Management
Once a working shift is added to the schedule, the annual leave request can be submitted successfully.
Before you begin
Make sure:
You have access to PeopleXD
You have permission to view and edit employee schedules
You know the correct employee and leave date
The correct contract is selected (if the employee has multiple contracts)
Resolve the 'rest day' error
1. Access the employee schedule
Open PeopleXD
Search for the employee
Open the employee profile
Select Actions
Click View schedules
This will display the employee’s roster.
2. Edit the roster
Locate the date showing the rest day error
Check if a working shift is assigned
Add a working pattern or shift to that date
Confirm the correct contract is selected
Only scheduled working days can accept annual leave entries.
3. Save the schedule
Click Save
Confirm the changes
Ensure the shift appears on the selected date
The schedule is now updated.
4. Submit the annual leave request
Return to the annual leave request
Select the same date
Submit the leave request
Save or approve as required
The request should now process without the rest day error.
🤓Tip:
Always check the employee’s roster before booking annual leave.
If the employee has multiple contracts, update the correct schedule.
Inform the employee if their shift or roster has been adjusted.
If the error continues, check Workforce Management sync or contact system support.
Summary

To fix it:
Open the employee schedule
Add a working shift to the date
Save the roster
Submit the annual leave request again
Once the employee is scheduled to work on that date, the leave request will go through successfully.
