The Admin Security Type setting controls how a userβs access is managed, which impacts the visibility of filters and buttons such as Department, Work Group, and Team Calendar.
Check Your Admin Security Type Setting
Go to WFM Admin > Config > General Settings.
Find the setting called Admin Security Type.
Understand the Three Admin Security Types
Structure Code Access:
Access is based on your Personnel system user access (Company/Division level).
Work Group and Department filters will NOT show.
This means you cannot filter leave approvals by Work Group or Department.
Team Calendar button will also not appear.
System User Access:
Access is based on the Work Groups and Departments assigned to your WFM System User account.
Work Group and Department filters WILL appear.
You will only see employees within those Work Groups and Departments.
Team Calendar button will appear.
This controls access on screens like Bulk Leave Approval, Approve Hours, Employee Calendar, and Balance Re-Calculation.
Team Area Access:
Used only for clients with rostered Team Areas.
Filters will show based on Team Areas assigned to your account.
Team Calendar button will appear.
Determine Which Admin Security Type You Are Using
If the Work Group and Department filters are missing, you are likely using Structure Code Access.
To get the filters back, the Admin Security Type must be changed to System User Access.
How to Change Admin Security Type
Only users with the correct system permissions can change this setting.
To change it:
Go to WFM Admin > Config > General Settings.
Change Admin Security Type from Structure Code Access to System User Access.
Save your changes.
Confirm Your Work Group and Department Access
Confirm Your Work Group and Department Access
Go to WFM Admin > Config > WFM System Users.
Select your username and verify which Work Groups and Departments you have access to.
You will only see employees and filters relevant to those assigned groups and departments.
Verify Filters and Buttons Appear
Log out and log back in if needed.
Go to the Bulk Leave Approval screen.
The Work Group + Department filters and the Team Calendar button should now be visible.
πNote: Changing this setting affects what employees you see on several screens, including Approve Hours and Balance Re-Calculation.
The Sign Off Hours screen always shows all employees regardless of this setting.
If your organization uses rostered Team Areas, the Team Area Access option applies instead.
