How Rounding Works in Leave Balances

By default, rounding is applied to both taken and booked leave. The system rounds up to the nearest half hour, which can sometimes result in employees losing a small portion of their leave.

Example:

If an employee on an 8.5-hour day books half a day’s leave, the system rounds this up by 15 minutes. As a result, the employee would lose an extra 15 minutes of their leave balance.

How to Update Rounding Settings

You can choose where rounding is applied in the Balance Configuration screen. To adjust this:

  1. Go to the WFM Admin Dashboard and select WFM Configuration.

  2. Click on the Balance Configuration tile.

  3. Search for and select the relevant Balance.

  4. Expand the 3-dot menu and click View/Edit Balance.

  5. From the Summary tab, scroll to the Rounding Rules section.

  6. In the Apply Rounding To field, use the dropdown to select where you’d like rounding to be applied.

  7. Click Save.

By default rounding is performed on taken and booked leave. The system rounds balances up to the nearest half hour which means it rounds up the leave taken amounts, which is not in the employees favour. For example, If an employee on an 8.5 hour day booked a half day leave, this would round up by 15 minutes so the employee is losing 15 minutes of their leave.

Options are available on the Balance configuration screen for you to select where you want rounding for the balance to be performed. To update this:

  1. Navigate to the WFM Admin Dashboard and select WFM Configuration.

  2. Select the Balance Configuration tile.

  3. Search for and select the relevant Balance.

  4. Expand it's 3-dot menu and select View/Edit Balance.

  5. From the Summary tab scroll to the Rounding Rules section, locate the Apply Rounding To field.

  6. Use the dropdown options to select where rounding should be performed.

  7. Click Save.

The options available from the Apply Rounding To dropdown are:

  • All - This will apply to Taken & Entitlement (default option)

  • Entitlement - This will apply rounding to Reserved, Floating, Accrued and Carried balances.

  • Taken - This will apply rounding to taken and book leave.
